Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Roaster’s Guild?

The Roaster’s Guild is a rapidly growing specialty coffee exchange based in Singapore. We operate as a premier regional showcase for elite coffee roasters from across the South East Asia region, featuring an expertly curated, rotating lineup of exceptional single-origin micro-lots. Our platform bridges the gap between bean and cup through a dedicated online store and a physical Singapore showcase with an integrated retail point-of-sale component.

Why do you focus on consumer education?

We aim to nurture mainstream coffee drinkers into true coffee connoisseurs by pulling back the curtain on the intensive, labor-intensive farming practices required upstream. By educating consumers on technical coffee quality, cultivar diversity, and proper cup appreciation, we empower the community to understand what premium coffee is truly worth. This empowers producers and farmers to command higher, fairer prices for their harvests, ensuring that financial benefits cascade directly down the supply chain.

What coffee varieties and cultivars do you feature?

Through our rotating collections, we introduce buyers to the incredible genetic diversity of single-origin coffee. Visitors can explore the unique profiles of classic, rare, and exotic cultivars grown at elite high-altitude elevations between 1,750 and 2,300 meters above sea level (masl). Our rotating lineup features foundational Typica, bright Caturra, rare Mocca, and sweet Red Bourbon, alongside celebrated modern varieties like Geisha and Bourbon.

How do processing and fermentation affect the flavor?

Every cup is heavily influenced by the intensive agricultural methods executed at the farm level. After a mechanical pulper strips away the outer skin of the cherry, a sticky, sugary mucilage layer remains on the seed. The harvest then undergoes precise processing methods, ranging from pristine traditional washing to experimental anaerobic fermentations. This is where microbes break down the sugars, deliberately intensifying the bean's complex acidity, tropical sweetness, and delicate floral aromatics.

What is your roasting philosophy?

We celebrate regional roasting talent by showcasing how skilled roasting transforms raw green seeds into aromatic masterpieces. All our featured micro-lots are roasted explicitly light—typically measuring between an Agtron 90 and 98 profile. This precise, ultra-light style preserves the pristine structural clarity and distinct terroir characteristics of the bean rather than hiding them under heavy, smoky dark roast notes. That being said, we do offer alternate roasting profiles upon request. Just contact us after placing your order, and we will handle the rest.

Why are your coffees sold in smaller pack sizes?

Our micro-lots are packed intentionally in small-scale volumes starting at 80g but we offer up 250g, 1kg, 5kg and 10kg packs as well. Because these low-yield lot selections can be rare and precious, these sizes may vary according to forces of supply and demand, while allowing adventurous connoisseurs to experience a wider variety of elite, competition-grade profiles with complete transparency and freshness.
